Skin Care

by Jasmin Wala

I don't wear much make up. But what I do love to do is invest in great products for my skin. The trend these days seem to be moving more and more into natural skin care. After all what you put on your skin is as import as what you put in your tummy!

Last month La Prarie discontinued my Marine Biology face cream. That collection is supposed to be for younger skin. I tried their Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Emulsion which turned out to be too thick and caused a breakout. Since then I've tried multiple creams by La Prarie themselves and Sisley. Unfortunately it just did not seem to suit my skin. I was at the Grove yesterday and decided to give Honest by Jessica Alba a try. Her products are suppose to be made without: parabens, paraffins, formaldehyde carriers, PEGs, steareth-n, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, petrolatum, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, or dyes.

I started by dabbling with the Magic Balm which can literally be put anywhere! From your lips to using it as a primer before putting your concealer. It is made with organic fruit and botanical oils. I loved their Oil Free Moisturizers. Disclaimer it doesn't smell the best since there is no fragrance added to it. The cream feels amazing on, it is so light and hydrating at the same time.

I felt like I had finally found my La Prarie Marine Biology replacement! I added the Honest face cream to my skin care line up. I use Cle de Peau Gentle Cleansing Foam in the shower. Instead of using a towel on my face in invest in Kleenex Hand Towels box just to ensure what is put on my face is squeaky clean, free of detergent. I then use the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence by pressing it into my skin. I now have my Honest Oil Free Moisturizer to use as face cream. I finish it all off wth my favorite sunblock by Chantacaille Ultra Sun Protection Sunscreen. I love how it feels on my skin it goes on clear with no white streaks and it practically serves as a light primer if I decide to put make up!

It's all 'bout the Boots, 'bout the Boots, no Treble

by Jasmin Wala in

Thigh high boots can easily be part of a Pretty Woman fiasco look, no not Julia Roberts, the other friend. However, styling them the right way will help create a well thought out ensemble after all it’s all about that flirty flash of thigh.

While fancy dresses and frilly skirts are the usual go-to's for evening dresses I like the idea of mixing it up and using a evening jacket to bring a tailored look together.

Statement Sweatshirt

by Jasmin Wala in

It's freezing outside, by LA standards at-least. All we want to do is slip into a cozy sweatshirt and call it a #ootd. But instead of looking boring in a sweatshirt, find a unique one that like color-blocking, lace, or unique embellishments to elevate the casual sweatshirt from couch potato worthy to #ootd-in the works. Pairing your sweatshirt with interesting bottoms elevate your look to #ootd worthy.

How to be a Parisian Wherever You Are

by Jasmin Wala in

I have always loved Paris, from the perfect lunch spot L'avenue to the low key vibe of Saint Germain. My love for the French is what made me want to learn the language fluently. I started leaning french about 3 months ago and it has been such a fun process. When this book came out I couldn't think of a better read to try and channel the inner Parisian in me.  Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book.

"Either go all grey or no gray hair. Salt and pepper is for the table. "

"The signature item is a gift that a woman gives herself depending on her age,her taste and the size of her purse. It is a symbol of independence and freedom which states,"I bought it for myself I earned it and it makes me happy"

"She says hello to everyone but wants to talk to no one. "
"She never wastes time looking for an actual parking spot. Instead, she leaves her car wherever she wants and acts like there's valet parking, but feels persecuted whenever she gets a ticket. "
"The Parisian doesn't stop driving when her gas light goes on. instead she prefers to play her own form of Russian roulette: will she make it, or won't she? "
